I have a couple of thoughts on this.

    1. Kinston moves down in classification but the football team won’t enjoy an easier schedule.

    2. Can they go ahead and put South Lenoir and Kinston in the same conference? While they are at it I’d also like to pick up Ayden Grifton for that conference as well.

    3. NL’s conference looks a little lean, surely they’ll boost that?

  2. greendog Says:

    1. you are probably correct on #1, weighs about the same as they were

    2. Kinston & SL would be nice, I think they’re 1st realignment showed that, but Topsail whined and they booted Kinston out

    3. NL should be able to compete very well in football, basketball very well as none of those are fb or bb giants, baseball will have a little more difficulty with the other wayne county schools other than Goldsboro(25-1 last nite).

    4. Overall, SL stays about the same, Kinston should roll in basketball, football about the same, baseball maybe a bit more competitive, NL really won out on this realignment, but we shall see in 2009.

  3. thaboy Says:

Kinston should roll to loke five straight basketball championships and be at ECU every year

  4. heelsfan Says:

Horns, you have lost your mind if you think NL’s conference is lean…….Maybe in football, but the baseball conference just went up many, many steps.

SL’s conference will be good in football, but baseball it will remain the bottom feeder, and SL will roll in that weak conference for many years to come.

KHS, will have as many State Titles in basketball as UCLA has National Championships in basketball.

  5. Horns Says:

Heelsfan, just as a minor point of clarification, I was speaking in terms of the number of teams (six) rather than the talents of the schools within. I don’t live in Eastern NC anymore and certainly am not an expert on who’s good at what. I only get the info secondhand from Hanks and you guys.

  6. ECPirates11 Says:

I’m glad to see New Bern and Rose finally get a real conference. Now maybe they’ll get what’s been coming to them.

  7. s.lovick Says:

Bryan, Were there any changes today to what was proposed? Yea 1 or 2 more in NL conference would make things easier on the AD..lots of non-conference to arrange.
    Overall looks good.
3A conf. 4 looks like a good one.

  8. Bryan Hanks Says:

SLovick — Above is the realignment for 2009-13. NL will be in a six-team league again. I think it’s actually harder for the seven-team leagues (like Kinston/GC’s), when very few conferences have seven members.

  9. diamondheels Says:

Personally, I would have rather seen KHS in conference with SL, Topsail is going to be a long trip in the middle of the week for baskaetball team and jv football team, now that KHS and SL are playing each other again it would have been nice to add the conference rivalry to the mix.
