Could this be the (temporary) end of the iPod shuffle in my MNRs? I need some help from some of you technical guys — although I think I’ve already screwed my iPod up.
As I usually do first thing in the a.m., I plugged my iPod into my work computer, which hosts my library. Somehow, I hit a button and wiped the memory of my iPod and now all I have are the videos, TV shows and music I have bought from iTunes — I don’t have any of the freaking 2,300 or so songs I’ve painfully downloaded over the past year and a half!
Is there any way to get them back? I’ve unplugged the iPod, tried to reset, but I’m still stuck with 132 songs (that I bought) and that’s all.
Yes, I’m frustrated. Can someone a little smarter than me (and that describes a lot of you out there!) help me?!?!?

Hanks,
Are you saying that you wiped the music from the computer’s hard drive also?

GW — Yep, when I was having computer problems today, they wiped my profile that held that library. But doesn’t Apple keep that somewhere (like a proxy server)?

If this means we won’t be subjected to your mostly abysmal taste in music, then this seems like a plus for those of us here on the blog.
I kid, I kid.

Heelatious — too mean, dude, too mean.

I don’t know if they keep your profile or not. I hate to say it but it sounds like you’re going to have to start over. Good news though- that chia pet you’ve got working for you has a pretty large and broad collection of music.
Thanks for making think to make a back up of mine too.

GW — I’m just sick to my stomach. I’ve LITERALLY spent 18 months putting this collection together. It had no filler stuff in it, just music I liked.
Now I have to start all over again.
Freaking technology.

I was actually thinking about something like this just this morning. I don’t have one but occasionally use my sons since we have similar taste in music. I was thinking that if someone stole your Ipod and you didn’t have it stored on your computer you could be out a lot of time and money.

I have several gigs of similar music that I could loan out. It doesn’t erase the pain, but I’m sure it makes it better.

Hanks, does this mean I have to lend you my N.W.A. CD again?
BTW, congratulations on kicking my sorry fantasy ass this week. I can’t get a break!

I’m gonna miss going in there and hearing Barry Manilow pumping out of those speakers.
Was that a poor choice of words?

I would like to donate the Carolina Fight Song to your iPod recovery effort Hanks. Just trying to help in any way I can. No need to thank me.

Oh come on now, J Dizzle. You know you loved hearing Hanks belt out “Copa Cabana” as much as I did.
